Teeth Whitening

Are you tired of hiding your smile? Do you constantly wish your teeth were whiter and brighter? If you struggle with dental stains, whitening treatment can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence. Dr. Shannen Manlucu and her Rockville, MD, dentistry team can give you the smile you deserve through Zoom!® Teeth whitening.

What is Zoom! Teeth Whitening?

Zoom! Teeth Whitening is a highly regarded bleaching treatment that can whiten your smile by eight shades in just one office visit. The process uses a hydrogen peroxide whitening gel in combination with the Zoom light to penetrate the teeth and bleach the stains and discoloration. It is an advancement in cosmetic dentistry and a preferred way to professionally whiten teeth.

Benefits of Teeth Whitening

/

A whiter, brighter smile is just an hour away with Zoom! teeth whitening at our Rockville dental office. This whitening process gives you a noticeably whiter smile and a boost in your confidence. It is safe, quick, and effective and with proper oral care, tooth whitening can last for years.

In-Office or at-Home

Zoom! teeth whitening is available to be applied in our Rockville, MD, office, or if you prefer, we can send you home with a set of whitening trays. If you choose at-home treatments, you can achieve similar results, although treatment will take longer. For your take-home kit, we will provide whitening trays, made from impressions of your teeth, as well as specialized whitening gel to place in your trays. Typically, you will need to wear the trays for 30 minutes each day for about two weeks. In some cases, we offer overnight whitening. We can work with you to choose the right strength of gel to ensure your comfort during treatment.

How Does Zoom! in-Office Teeth Whitening Work?

The first step for any cosmetic dentistry procedure is to talk with your dentist.
The first step for any cosmetic dentistry procedure is to talk with your dentist.

Teeth Cleaning

Before your whitening, it is recommended to have a routine teeth cleaning to ensure the best results.

Preparation

After your cleaning, your dentist will place a barrier over your gums and then apply the Zoom! gel to your exposed teeth. To ensure there is no discomfort, none of the hydrogen peroxide bleaching gel should touch your soft tissue.

Whitening Process

To activate the gel, your dentist will shine the Zoom! light on your teeth. The light activates the whitening agents in the gel, breaking apart stains within the tooth. This process is repeated for three to four rounds and typically takes about 15 minutes each. Your total treatment time is about an hour and can whiten your smile up to eight shades. You'll leave our office that day feeling more confident and proud to show off your white teeth.

After Care

To preserve your bright smile, you will need to practice good oral hygiene and receive regular touch-up treatments. We can perform those subsequent procedures in the office, or we can provide the materials for touch-ups at home. Whitening toothpaste is usually recommended as well to keep your teeth looking their best.

Is Professional Teeth Whitening Right for Me?

Teeth whitening is a good option for most patients with external dental stains. Whitening may not be appropriate if you already have a dental crown or bridge on your front teeth as these restorations will not respond to treatment. If you suffer from dental sensitivity, you can still undergo whitening, thanks to our careful techniques and the gentle Zoom! formula. If you are looking for an even more dramatic smile transformation, Dr. Manlucu can combine whitening with other cosmetic treatments, such as porcelain veneers and crowns. After whitening, you can choose a lighter restoration that will match the newly enhanced shade of your smile.

Zoom! Teeth Whitening Versus Over-the-Counter

Most over-the-counter bleaching treatments are not as effective as professional whitening options. Not only could you not get your desired results, but you could also do damage to your teeth. Some at-home trays contain harmful levels of hydrogen peroxide, which can damage your enamel, while other treatments like whitening toothpaste just aren't enough to get rid of tooth discoloration. By getting your teeth professionally whitened at our Rockville, MD, office, you can be sure the treatment is done safely and effectively.
